职位描述
The Role As a Closure System Design Engineer focused on the Vehicle Cleaning System, you will be responsible for conceiving, architecting, designing, and engineering key cleaning subsystems—such as wiper systems, washer hoses/lines, washer tanks/pumps, nozzles, and related fluid packaging—for Tesla vehicles. You will work alongside pioneering Designers and Engineers through all stages of the product design cycle: From initial sketch and concept, through architecture and design, and finally to validation and product launch. You will join a team that turns everyday visibility hardware into a precise, reliable system—quietly enabling a clearer view for drivers and supporting the sensing path that underpins Tesla Assisted Driving experience. Responsibilities Serve as a member of the Vehicle Engineering Team to support automotive body and closure-related cleaning system development for the Tesla vehicle product lines Conceptualize, design, engineer and launch components and assemblies for the cleaning system—including wiper mechanisms and arms/blades interfaces, washer tanks, pumps, hoses/tubing, check valves, nozzles, and packaging brackets Work side by side with side doors, hood and liftgates for CIW (Closures in White) team to integrate and package components within each closure, ensuring washer routing, tank placement, and spray coverage fit seamlessly with body and exterior architecture Achieve innovation-driven cleaning system targets for appearance, function, quality, cost and weight Lead investigations which drive the Tesla Design and Styling studio to deliver the optimal balance of form, function and quality—from nozzle visibility and hose concealment to craftsmanship of serviceable cleaning components Establish system level architecture and functionality based on market research, design feasibility and prototyping, including spray pattern intent, fluid delivery robustness, freeze/thermal considerations, and NVH-aware packaging of pumps and tanks Work closely with body team to lead master section, sealing flange and hinge axis development where cleaning hardware interfaces with closures, glass, and exterior surfaces Work directly with Manufacturing Engineering to define optimal processes to achieve world class execution of automotive exterior craftsmanship and fit and finish, including hose routing assembly sequence, tank fill/service access, and leak-free joint quality Optimize designs with the appropriate analytical and physical assessments (e.g., flow/pressure drop intuition, spray coverage checks, durability and environmental robustness) Interpret/develop Tolerance Analysis, DVP&R, CAE, DFM, DFMEA, PFMEA simulations/results and integrate feedback into designs Manage and collaborate with key suppliers (both internal and external) to support overall vehicle development milestones and prototype/ production build events for cleaning-system parts and sub-assemblies Partner with cross-functional teams (Body, Exterior, Glass, EE, and Validation) so cleaning performance stays consistent in real-world conditions—helping keep optical paths clear in support of Tesla's driver-assistance features Grow quickly through hands-on ownership: prototype builds, issue triage on the line, and design iterations with senior engineer mentorship Requirements BS in Mechanical Engineering (or related major such as Vehicle/Automotive Engineering, Mechatronics) or ability to demonstrate equivalent experience and knowledge in the field of Mechanical Engineering New graduate or early-career candidate (internships, capstone, Formula SAE/Baja, robotics, or fluid/mechanism projects highly valued) Curiosity about consumer product design or automotive systems—coursework or project experience with mechanisms, fluids, or packaging is a plus Familiarity with Electrical Engineering fundamentals (pumps, sensors, basic controls); exposure to CAN/LIN is a plus, not a must Proficiency in 3D part modeling utilizing CATIA V5/V6, NX, SolidWorks, or similar (willingness to ramp on CATIA quickly) Strong understanding of engineering principles, mechanics of materials and the ability to think out of the box Foundational knowledge of manufacturing principles (stamping, injection molding, extrusion, casting) and design for manufacturing Interest in cutting-edge manufacturing and high-volume automotive execution Awareness of vehicle engineering crash, safety, and sealing/water-management interfaces is a plus Strong ownership mindset, clear communication in English and Chinese, and excitement to learn how simple cleaning hardware becomes a high-reliability system on a Tesla This job application may involve an interview with an interviewer outside of Tesla China.
